More than 63kg of metal saved from landfill by WEA in 2025!! Our in-house plastic and metal recycling project for members saved 63kg of metal from clogging up landfill. Our longstanding plastic recycling project was paused and re-established last year to partner with Richmond Community Garden and each month 8-10 full boxes of milk tops and no. 5 plastic lids are dropped off there where they are planning to develop plant pots and other projects once new equipment has bedded down. While this project is for members only anyone can use the community garden drop-off station. However, not everyone sorts their tops correctly and over time this can build up. Thankfully, Kazuko has assembled a volunteer team from Pod-Cast-On and Hohepa to check and re-sort what has been amassed. Big shout out from WEA for the couple of working bees during the holidays to do this job that our small team simply cannot manage with day-to-day tasks. April 24th, 2026 Blog
