Join us for studio time with other painters and creatives. Bounce ideas off others as you share, interact and learn from one another in a friendly group. Whichever medium you use, style you work in or level of experience – everyone is welcome. We also have a few basic supplies and can advise you on what else to bring if needed.
We'll have some structure to sessions in Term 2 to help get our creative juices flowing, see details below. If you already have a project to focus on just bring it along and proceed at your own pace with likeminded people.
Sessions:
Wk 1 May 17: Abstract Expressionism, learn about it and try this fun style
Wk 2 May 24: Still life - common objects are arranged and become the subject of your painting or drawing. Get tips on the how-tos, then set one up
Wk 3 May 31: Hear the curator at Christchurch Art Gallery discuss Hawkin a landscape by Rata Lovell-Smith
Wk 4 Jun 7: Pass-the-Parcel style collaborative drawing exercise
Wk 5: Collage & mixed media another genre that is fun to explore
Wk 6: Indigenous Art - small powerpoint followed by telling your own story in this style
You need: your own materials and some enthusiasm to create though we have some pencils, paint and water jars/newspaper brushes if you want to come along and try it out.
