Description

From Vikings, Goths and Empires, to World war neutrality and then Ikea, Sweden is a nation on the edge of Europe that has played a significant part in its history.  Why so blonde?  Why so tall? In this course we will explore the history of this rather content, high taxed nation with its similarities to New Zealand, its own church, a contentious land-grabbing history with its neighbours, and an apparent love of meatballs?

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, he recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics, and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.

Starts 15th June, 12.30-2.30pm, 5 Wednesdays, $52
