HISTORY OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

Starts 17th July, 12.30-2.30pm

Description

Albion, Land of the Thistle and Rose, Ol' Blighty.  From Stonehenge and a giant naked man to Robin Hood, the Monarchy, and the early England/Wales/Scotland/Ireland relationship. This 2-part course is a detailed yet fun examination of the language, history, culture, and literature of this globally influential Kingdom.  We'll consider geography, society, politics, economy, and everyday life in general, and reflect on her union, rise, and domination.

 

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, he recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics, and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
