CPR AND BASIC FIRST AID – The Red Cross

Description

This session could just save a life! Join professional First Aid Trainers from the Red Cross for this 2 hour basic course in life saving first aid. Why learn CPR? Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in New Zealand and includes heart, stroke and blood vessel disease, causing almost 1 out of every 3 deaths in New Zealand. Every 90 minutes a New Zealander dies from Heart Disease. Many of these deaths are preventable. CPR therefore is a vital skill everyone should know, not only in-case of heart attack, but also in the instance of heart failure resulting from choking, drowning or shock. Spaces limited so be quick! The 2 hour Basic First Aid Course will cover the essentials of:

-       Primary assessment

-       Safe side positioning

-       Scene management of emergency situations 

-       CPR – adult, child and infant

-       AED use

-       Airway obstruction (choking) – adult, child, infant
