Description

Every generation faces new challenges as the present becomes the past and traditional culture gets questioned by the next generation.

This course will look at five major post-WW2 social movements that swept around the western world, from race rights through feminism up to the modern LBGT right movement.

We will not only look at the history but at the philosophy of the movements - their similarities and differences, and many of the issues that still linger on.

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, he recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics, and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
